A city never sleeps’ is a quote generally coined for the Mega City of Mumbai, but actually Mumbai is not the only city that is awaken at night; Rather a ‘City’ never sleeps, it’s us whose eyes doesn’t capture them while sleeping. People work even at odd hours since not all have ‘9 to 5’ jobs with them. All these happens When you are sleeping…

In this former Capital of the Dry State, the nightlife of Ahmedabad is as vibrant as other cities without getting trippy. There’s a flow of totally amazing vibes across the corners of the City roads, making it an astounding experience for anyone who decides to dedicates a night to live the nightlife. Different people doing various activities at different hour of night can be spotted throughout the city, even at one’s neighborhood. Whether it’s the food venders selling tea & omelette to Municipal workers doing the civic jobs; or the police van sanctioned at almost every second intersection to people out for night-walks, everyone contributes to create that vibe.

All these things happen when most people go into sleep & miss such things which tries to make their day’s life more comfortable that the previous one. Such things should be brought into the day light for the world to showcase the importance & amazement it has when one sees it. These being carried out in odd-hours is still an inseparable part of the cityscape, it’s life & culture; which is a fact for any given city across the world. Although Ahmedabad is much safer city in the night, many people still haven’t experienced this phenomenon thoroughly. For them, this Photo Exhibition is a definite answer. 

As a part of our Elective ‘Photography’ in the Course ‘Media Appreciation’, we few students of Foundation 2017 are presenting a Photo Exhibition on the Nightlife of Ahmedabad a.k.a. When You are Sleeping under the Guidance of visiting Faculty Mr. Parthiv Shah.

In this Exhibition, we have tried to show those vibes of Ahmedabad’s nightlife through our captured photographs. Whether it’s the people, place or that moment, we had tried to capture it & present it before your eyes to make you aware. Making you amaze or realize about the odd hours of the city, will allow you to see & understand Ahmedabad in a different perspective; or rather any city across the globe where you lived, will be living & aspired to be in it.

To make the work a resourceful one, we roamed across the neighborhood & the city in the different hours of night and also sometimes during the day to capture those vibes in our camera. Working throughout the day & night hours, we hope that we had able to do an extensive work enough to provide you with a sense of knowledge & wonder about such beautiful happening.

All at the end, we had able to learn a lot not only in photography, but also as working on-field from the experiences & exposure, which will ultimately help us at any given time in coming times as Designers. We would like to thanks all those who helped us to get this exhibition materialised by providing both enterprise & logistical help.
